This Weekend

It is NFC Championship weekend in Atlanta…Go Falcons! The city is buzzing with Falcons fans greatly anticipating the first NFC playoff game in eight years. It’s also full of San Francisco 49ers fans who hope their team will walk away victorious. So whether you’re a diehard Falcons fan like my younger brother or a 49ers fare weather fan, there’s plenty of excitement and plenty of things to do this weekend.

In honor of the big game, the High Museum of Art is offering discounts for fans wearing Falcons jerseys or t-shirts. You can get $3 off regular admission or $10 off membership. For information visit www.high.org

The weekend also celebrates the birth, life and works of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Some are commemorating the national holiday by volunteering their time to help others in need. There will also be church services, concerts and much more.

This year, the 24th Annual Emory Community Choral Festival celebrates the rich and diverse traditions of Atlanta’s choral arts during the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend. Sharing the stage will be Atlanta’s own Morehouse College Glee Club and Spivey Hall Children’s Choir, plus the Lanier Chamber Singers, from Gainesville, Georgia. For details, visit www.emory.edu

Enjoy free admission to the Atlanta History Center in honor of Martin Luther King Day, featuring all-inclusive access to award-winning exhibitions in the Atlanta History Museum; tours of the 1928 Swan House and the 1860 Smith Family Farm; the Centennial Olympic Games Museum; and 22 acres of gardens and trails. For more information, visit www.AtlantaHistoryCenter.com

And Finally,
