Obamacare Town Hall: Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Description: Are you currently searching for health insurance or already have one? Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer has organized a local town hall meeting about the newest health care initiative known as the Affordable Care Act aka "Obamacare". Representatives from Planned Parenthood, Make the Road NY, LaGuardia Community College's Small Business Services, Floating Hospital, Urban Upbound, and Health First will be available at the meeting. They will be there to provide some much needed information about various health care options that small businesses, immigrant families, and those currently uninsured can look into.

Long Island City Walk: Dec. 10 at 9 a.m.

Description: Queens Library will be sponsoring a walking competition in Long Island City. At the end of the competition, participants will be invited to a final party and awarded certificates of participation; the team with the most miles wins a gift certificate from a local establishment. Learn to grow at Steinway library: Dec. 11 at 3:45 p.m.

Description: Learn to grow food organically in our learning gardens. Weekly hands-on activities include seed planting, transplanting, watering, making compost and harvesting. Children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by an adult.
