Follow up your Super Bowl weekend with another exciting, fan-favorite event; barrel racing! Come on down to the Salt Lake Equestrian Park in South Jordan this Sunday, February 10, to witness some fast, fun runs.
UTBRA (Utah barrel racing association) is hosting another winter-series race. Check the group’s website for run times, entry fee and time-only information. The morning races typically begin with time only (practice) runs around 10:00 a.m. while the 4D race kicks off at approximately 12:00 noon.
If you’re racing, keep in mind that the UTBRA strongly promotes helmet wearing and encourages riders to participate in this safety-conscious habit. Riders who do opt to run in helmets are even entered into a drawing for a special prize!
Spectators are always welcome, and there’s no cost to watch. The races will be held indoors in the large, covered arena. Ample bleachers provide plenty of seating. Following the organization's rules, please remember to stay out of the holding pen if you're not on a horse, or helping a rider with their horse.
The equestrian park is conveniently located on 2200 W, just north of 10400 S. The large lots offer free parking and there is a concession stand in the arena for beverages and snacks.
Riders can pre-enter online through Saturday, February 9th. Youth entry fees are an affordable $15. For riders participating in the 4D open, the entry fee is $30 per horse and rider. (Note: races with over 120 entries will become a 5D).
UTBRA’s popular winter series will come to an end later this month, with the final winter race and prize drawing to be held on Sunday, February 24th (note that riders have to participate in six races during the season in order to qualify for awards).
Race out to South Jordan this Sunday for a dose of barrel racing excitement. Riding or watching, UTBRA events are always a lot of fun!
