We think you're near Los Angeles

This Week on TV: Feb. 6-12

Television fans will be excited for a few big series premieres and the return of Zombies and Alton Brown. Here are the highlights on TV this week.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6
Smash

(NBC at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. PST)
Finally a show for all those musical loving adults that are too embarrassed to admit how much they love to watch the high school singing sensation “Glee.” While the show suffers occasionally from those awkward spontaneously breaking into song moments, the production numbers are spectacular and Katherine McPhee shines.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7
'The River

(ABC at 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. PST)
If the promos for “The River” leave you wondering what the heck is going on, you’re not alone. But here’s what we know. Bruce Greenwood stars as an explorer who mysteriously disappears in the Amazon. A “Lost”-like search is sure to ensue. It’s probably best to watch every second of the two-hour series premiere if you plan on getting a season pass on your DVR for this one.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8
'Mobbed

(FOX at 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. PST)
Howie Mandel’s flash mob series is always entertaining. But the February 8 episode should prove to be especially good, when a 37-year-old man attempts to connect with his biological father through a dance audition. “So You Think You Can Dance” choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon D'Umo (aka Nappytabs) guest star.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9
'30 Rock

(NBC at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST)
It might have taken a while for “30 Rock” to make it’s way back to TV screens this season, but NBC has been more than making up for it. Once again the network will air two episodes in one night.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10
'Food Network Special: Good Eats - Turn on the Dark

(Food Network at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST)
Alton Brown devotees were devastated last year when he called it quits on his science-meets-cooking show “Good Eats.” But they’ll get a double treat on February 10 when Brown returns to the screen with a Valentine’s special about chocolate.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12
'The Walking Dead

(AMC at 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. PST)
As far as post-apocalyptic TV shows go, “The Waking Dead” is the best the small screen has to offer these days. See what the zombies are up to when the series returns for its season two winter premiere.
