— The beginning of fall not only brings school, but football! Whether it’s college or pro, you can bet people around the country will be tuned in Saturday and Sunday afternoons to all of the latest happenings on the gridiron. Much like the gladiators who put their lives on the line every weekend, mobile app developers in New York spend countless hours working on the craft they love the most.
Many football players say they couldn’t imagine doing anything else, and app developers are often the same way. Similar to football, mobile app development is a specialized field, and one that is unbelievably competitive. You think you have a groundbreaking idea? There might already be “an app for that.” The key is to make your product better and more unique than your competition.
Tech Tuesdays at the Seaport
This event was hosted at the South Street Seaport only a few blocks from Appular’s headquarters in the Financial District. There was a DJ, a good selection of delicious beers and plenty of great people on hand to enjoy the nice weather. The networking party to welcome Paperless Post to Lower Manhattan was a success, as were all of the Tech Tuesday’s at the Seaport this season. I guess we have to admit summer is finally over, but we’re already psyched for these events to return in 2014.
Investor Feedback Forum
Ready, set, pitch! This is one of the best types of events you can attend. App developers and other entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to stand in front of a panel of venture capitalists and pitch their idea. They’ll receive invaluable wisdom from successful investors, and people in attendance can learn about pitching, investing and some great new products or services they didn’t know existed. Among the companies pitching their idea will be app developers from KeyMe, an app that gives locksmiths the ability to copy your keys without having the physical copy of the original, and Kindara, an app that helps women track and gauge their fertility.
Fashion Tech: Demos and Drinks
On the final day of the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, the fashionistas of the tech scene will have their own special event. The great people at the meetup group Tech in Motion are helping put on this demo night that will surely help people learn what’s hot this fall and what technology will help them find it. Two of the featured demos include Hukkster and Gilt — two apps that alert users when clothes they want go on sale and give them the option to shop from the palm of their hand. Coincidentally, one of NYC’s the premiere co-working spots — Alley NYC — is in the Garment District, and will serve as the perfect host for this event.
Using Analytics to Optimize Your App and Business
App developers are always trying to gain an edge on the competition. Whether it’s new UI or UX strategies or learning more about users through advanced analytics. The meetup group Optimizing Mobile Apps is hosting this event to give real examples of how analytics have helped developers. The informative talk will be hosted at the beautiful cooperative workspace WeWork Labs in SoHo.
