What's currently happening in Middle Tennessee in the world of Christian music? Plenty.
Tonight, February 1, Andrew Peterson will be in concert at Believer's Chapel in Murfreesboro. Special guest will be Noah Curtis. Peterson's most recent album, "Light for the Lost Boy" was recently listed as a 2012 top 10 favorite in USA Today. He will be starting The Storyteller's Tour with Jason Gray on February 16. Tickets for tonight's concert are $15, and can be purchased here.
Another piece of news from Murfreesboro is that Colton Dixon, American Idol runner up and "Boro" native, debuted his first album on January 29th on the historic Christian music label Sparrow Records. The album's title, "A Messenger," was taken from the words of Jesus in John 13:16, "No servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him."
Dixon wanted the album's alternative rock sound to push the envelope for CCM.
"I'm definitely bringing an edge to Christian music--lyrically, and definitely musically," Dixon said. "It's going to be interesting to see what Christian music fans think of the record."
