This week: Fantasy Forest Amusement Park opens in Corona

This week families in Western Queens can visit a local amusement park that has just recently been opened beginning this week at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Families can also participate in various other local events taking place at Queens library and the Volker Oerth Museum.

Fantasy Forest Amusement Park: April 13-Oct. 31, 2014 at variable hours

Description: Located right next to Queens Zoo and Flushing Meadows Carousel, this fun-filled park contains an assortment of rides for all ages. Such rides include the Fantasy Frog Hopper, Corona Choo Choo, and Corona Cobra Coaster, the only roller coaster in Queens! Families can also arrange special birthday parties for their loved ones there. Information about tickets, hours, and pricing is available at their website below.

BOOST STEM Workshop- April 15 at 4:30 p.m.

Description: Children get to test their science skills through interesting experiments after school.

Green Garden-Green Plant at Volker Oerth Museum- April 16 from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Description: Come enjoy Earth Day through a hands-on workshop and spring garden tour. Learn about how to plant flowers, herbs and vegetables. Also, learn about recycling, composting, and about earth friendly resources within the community. Finally, learn about how to care for wild life within your backyard; light refreshments will be served.
