Thursday, March 7 | Next Meeting of the Mayor's Urban Agriculture Working Group

The Mayor's Urban Agriculture Working Group has met monthly since January 2012. Details here. This Thursday, from 8-10 am in the Boston Redevelopment Authority's Board Room [City Hall, 9th Floor, Room 900] the public convening will finalize presentation and discussion of such activities as the keeping of bees and hens, farmers markets and farm stands, and hydroponics and aquaponics in the City of Boston.

Friday, March 8 - Saturday, March 9 | Forum on Food Labeling | Cambridge

Harvard's two-day forum explores the policy and legal components of food labeling in this country and food labeling impacts on consumer awareness and buying behavior. Led by Harvard Law School, Harvard Food Law and Policy Clinic, Let's Talk About Food, Chefs Collaborative, Animal Welfare Approved and The Boston Globe.

Sunday, March 10 - Tuesday, March 12 | New England Food Show | Boston

The region's largest event on retail food and food-service. At the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Open 10-5pm on Sunday and Monday; 10-3pm on Tuesday.

Wednesday, March 13 | One Seed at a Time | Museum of Science, Boston

Under the snow of the Arctic Circle sits the Svalbard Global Seed Vault where Dr. Carey Fowler and team work to ensure that the world’s food supply can survive the dangers of disease, famine, climate change, and GMOs. From 7-9pm, Dr. Fowler will lecture on the protection of seeds that have nurtured humanity since the advent of agriculture and which represent a backup of the planet’s horticultural biodiversity.
