Fairgrounds Festival of Lights – now through Sunday, December 29th (selected dates) throughout the Fairgrounds (enter from South Park Ave.). The ninth annual festival features hundreds of light displays, reindeer carriage rides, the new, interactive Kids Game Show and much more. Gates are open from 5 to 9 p.m. (buildings and grounds are open until 10 p.m.); admission is $20 per carload, $25 for 15-passenger van or limo, and $50 per bus. Power Vista Festival of Trees – now through January 4th, 2014 at the Niagara Power Vista, 5777 Lewiston Rd. in Lewiston. Part of the “Holiday Lights of Niagara Trail,” the Festival of Trees features artificial evergreens and energy-efficient lights, with the trees decorated by local non-for-profit groups. Admission is free, and the Power Vista is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (except Christmas Eve, Christmas, Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day) – find out more at the Power Vista website.
Fatima Shrine Festival of Lights - now through Monday, January 6th, 2014 from 5 to 9 p.m. nightly at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, 1023 Swann Rd. in Lewiston. The festival features 75 displays lit up each night. More information can be found at the Shrine’s website, fatimashrine.com.
It WAS A Wonderful Life! – Saturday and Sunday, December 28th and 29th at 2 p.m. each day at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1411 Delaware Ave. in Buffalo. This year’s performance is written and directed by Joseph Demerly and will be narrated by “John Lay,” the first person to be interred in Forest Lawn in 1850. Tickets are $25 per person, and seating is limited for each performance, so reservations are required – call 716-885-1600 for reservations. Find out more at www.forest-lawn.com.
