We often hear the old saying, “There’s No Place Like Home”. And it’s true! When we visit away from our homes it is such a comfort to come back to our own familiar surroundings. Our home is where there is safety, recognizable enjoyment and peace.
Jesus speaks about home in John 14:1-12, and he gives the Father’s children a clear description of their home:
Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back. Then I will take you with me, so that you can be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain. All the old ways are gone.”
This world is not the home of God’s children. Like shoes that are too tight; it just doesn’t fit. That why we are discouraged from storing up treasures available on this earth.
Matthew 6: 19-21 & 24
“Don’t save treasures for yourselves here on earth. Moths and rust will destroy them. And thieves can break into your house and steal them. Instead, save your treasures in heaven, where they cannot be destroyed by moths or rust and where thieves cannot break in and steal them. Your heart will be where your treasure is.
You cannot serve two masters at the same time. You will hate one and love the other, or you will be loyal to one and not care about the other. You cannot serve God and Money at the same time.
