The “Screwie Louie’s Original Scene” concerts are part of the “AMPD” concert series' which showcase original bands and artists in the Tampa Bay area, in the hopes of raising awareness and excitement of original local music. The events are held monthly at the Porpoise Pub, and sometimes feature a different theme.
This month's event will be a little more on the heavier side, and feature live music performances from 5 different original acts on 2 separate stages. Bands and artists that will be performing at the event include New Tattoo, Disciples of Mayhem, Decepcion, Michael Jayne, and Paula Aubert.
Hailing from Clearwater, New Tattoo is a hard rock/metal band consisting of Rob Schultz (lead vocals), Jimmy Pittman (lead gitar & backup vocals), Brian Dean Marshall (bass & backup vocals), and Bud "Rock" Hamelin (drums & backup vocals). New Tattoo released their debut CD, "No Bones About It", in 1991. The band is currently working on their new full length CD release which will feature some previously unreleased material from 1993, as well as new material as well.
Disciples of Mayhem is a hard rock/metal band that fuses power-groove metal and blues. The band consistes of Craig Blackwell (lead vocals/guitar/keys), Mark Lair (guitar/backing vocals/keys), Jon Baptist (drums/backing vocals) and Rob Findley (bass/backing vocals). The band's debut CD, released earlier this year, is currently in it's 2nd pressing.
Originally formed in late 2004/early 2005 as a 4-piece, Decepcion has recently reunited following their breakup in 2011. The currently 3-piece version of the band consists of Lance Doran (guitar), Dave C. Sampson (lead vocals & bass), and Jeremy Strait (drums). Sunday's show will be Decepcion's 2nd live performance since they reunited.
Singer/songwriter, Michael Jayne, is no stranger to music as he has been playing all his life. He is currently working on his debut CD.
Originally from Minnesota, Paula Aubert has recently returned to the Tampa Bay area after being a fixture in the Austin, Texas music scene for the past two years. With one CD released already, "Purdy Wings", Aubert is currently in the process of recording her second CD.
In addition, WKID 96.7 FM will be doing a live, remote broadcast at the event as well. WKID broadcasts out of Clearwater on low-power FM, as well as on the internet. The station is operated by kids, and features a core staff of DJ's and show hosts that are all kids as well.
Sunday's "Screwie Louie's Original Scene" event will start at 2:00pm, admission to the event is free. Keith Wilkins will be the guest Emcee for the event.
