Not to be outdone by Summer Screen in Williamsburg, The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy has recently announced its own lineup for movies to be shown by the iconic bridge over the summer. Sponsored by the odiously-named Syfy, the outdoor series has a full slate of movies with animal names in the title, including Syfy's own TV movie "Sharknado"--a somewhat surprising sensation (at least on social media) when it hit the small screen last summer.
All the movies in the Syfy Movies with a View series will be shown on Thursday nights, at the park's Harbor View Lawn, near Pier 1 (the pier, not the knickknack store). It doesn't kick off until July 10, with "Duck Soup," but these things tend to get crowded, so you might as well stake out a spot now if you really want to catch a particular movie. The full schedule is:
July 10: Duck Soup
July 17: Sharknado
July 24: Fantastic Mr. Fox
July 31: Beetlejuice
August 7: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
August 14: Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai
August 21: The Birds
August 28: audience choice! It doesn't look like the nominees have been announced yet, but with the theme in mind, it would be a travesty if Pink Flamingos weren't an option.
Movies start at sundown on Thursday nights through July and August.
