“In 2008, Charles Smith and I combined my experience making rose in Provence, France with his vast knowledge of Washington State vineyards,” said Charles Bieler. “We were thrilled with the results right out of the gate and have been refining every year. I feel this fine tuning has been building toward this moment for the 2013 rose as it has come into beautiful focus.”
This year syrah dominates the blend again but with supporting roles from other Rhone varieties including cinsault, grenache and mourvedre. Fruit was sourced from quality vineyards in Columbia Valley region.
Would you believe this exceptional wine sells for a puny $12.
“This rose is a gorgeous and vibrant pink color with streaks of salmon and fuchsia edges,” Bieler said. “Wild strawberry and watermelon aromas are interwoven with herbs, citrus and mineral notes.”
These same flavors are showcased through the palate where they are magnified with bright acidity. Red fruit comes to center stage over savory accents.
Pour this selection slightly chilled with spicy Asian dishes, pork pot stickers, nutty cheeses, chicken salad with glazed wontons and pork sliders.
