The University of Oklahoma School of Geology and Geophysics is offering a 2 day science fair and job fair on March 14th and 15th. The event will be held at the Sarkey Energy Center in Norman on the OU Campys. The event is endorsed by the Society for Exploration Geophysicists and The Association for Petroleum Geologists.

Geology is the study or science of the solid Earth and is one of several related subjects commonly grouped in the geosciences. Geologists are concerned primarily with rocks that make up the outer part of the Earth and the fluids and resources they contain, as well as various aspects of the Earth's deeper interior.
Geophysics is the scientific study of the Earth using the methods of physics. The aim of geophysics is to determine the composition and state of the Earth’s interior, and the manner in which internal processes produce the observed features of the Earth’s surface, primarily through methods of remote sensing.
The mission of the ConocoPhillips School of Geology and Geophysics is to be a premier program in the petroleum geosciences as studied through geological and geophysical methods. We maintain disciplinary strengths in five areas: Energy, Earth Chemistry, Geophysics, Lithosphere Dynamics, and Paleoclimate-Paleoenvironments -Ancient biosphere.
The Geologic/Geophysics fair is open to current students, and students is who have graduated within the last two years from OU. http://www.ou.edu/content/mcee/geology/student_expo.html is the regisgtration page, which provides a variety of details, including accomodations in Norman. (There is an intown NBA THUNDER basketball game, both Thursday and Friday nights.)
It includes student research and other presentations, corporate field trips to look at local places of employment and the chance to meet with groups who are hiring in the energy industry as well as sample information and strategies of persons in the industry.
Students are still welcome to register. Registration for vendors closed February 11th.
The Conoco School of Geology and Geophysics along with the Mewborn College of Earth and Energy will combine to bring this event, though the Geology/Geophysics school is the older, more recognized institution of the pair.
Tier one sponsors for the event are Chesapeake, Sandridge , OXY, Conoco, Encana, Schlumberger, and BOEM (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management).
