This January at the Walters Art Museum

The Walters Art Museum will begin the year with special family festivals and activities.  Celebrate Three Kings Day, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Chinese New Year.  Dragons are the January theme for Drop-in Art Activities.

In Western Christianity Epiphany falls on January 6, a holy day which God revealed his manifestation to humanity as a human in Jesus Christ.  It is also celebrated as Three Kings Day; the day baby Jesus received a visit from the three Magi.
 
Know as Día de los Tres Reyes Magos in Hispanic and Latino communities, this day has the importance of Christmas Day.  The Walters Art Museum and Latino Outreach is hosting the Three Kings Celebration.  Enjoy performances, art activities, and some Rosca de Reyes or Kings' cake.

This  Chinese New Year, or Chum Je, is the year of the Dragon.  The Walters Art Museum is commemorating the event with a Chinese New Year – The Year of the Dragon celebration.  Enjoy special performances by the Johns Hopkins University Lion Dance Troupe, the Baltimore Chinese School, and others. You can even create your own dragon-inspired art!
