This Groundhog Day, Queen Charlotte, the groundhog at the Charlotte Nature Museum will venture out at 11:30 a.m. to predict whether or not we will have 6 more weeks of winter weather. If she sees her shadow and is scared, the prediction will be for more weeks of winter weather. If she does not see her shadow, then it will be a sign of an early spring.
Groundhog Day is a popular subject around Charlotte preschoolers because young children are interested in animals and they are learning about the world around them, such as the weather and how it changes with our calendar.
The Charlotte Nature Museum will host the Groundhog Day event today from 10-1. Activities are free with the Museum Admission. It is a great way to teach preschoolers about groundhogs. There will be groundhog games, such as Pin the Shadow on the Groundhog, a Groundhog Maze, and Groundhog Cornhole, according to the Charlotte Nature Museum website.
In addition, there will be a puppet show, groundhog stories, and crafts.
The Charlotte Nature Museum is located at 1658 Sterling Road in Charlotte. For more information, call 704-372-6261 or click here .
