If your dad is the dad who has everything, here’s your chance to provide him with something he doesn’t have: A time machine. How else are you going to transport your paternal parent back to the 1970s, a time when every restaurant menu worth its salt boasted Oysters Rockefeller as a starter and beef Wellington and lobster Thermidor as mains?
The answer is to take dad to Desmond’s Steakhouse, on Seventh Avenue. There on Father’s Day Weekend (June 13, 14 and 15), you will find a special menu of those oldie-but-goodies served up along with the restaurant’s regular bill of fare.
Back to the special menu: Priced at $95, the three-course extravaganza (more below) is an ode to hearty male appetites, with man-sized entrees and an intriguing retro theme. But unlike most meals, which are gone soon after the last forkful is consumed, this one has an afterlife. As an added treat on his special day, dad will receive a $30 gift certificate redeemable on a subsequent boys’ night out or a romantic rendezvous (hopefully with mom!).
