Fun loving Chicagoans need not limit themselves to Division Street (nicknamed Bourbon Street) for entertainment on Fat Tuesday (February 21st). On the Near South side, check out a popular party spot, Sakura Karaoke Lounge.
For $30-45 an hour, parties of between 8 to 25 people can rent private rooms of varying sizes for their karaoke night. A full bar is served, as are late night snacks for soaking up the alcohol. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and contemporary American songs are among the 50,000 music selections.
The rooms are mostly decorated in red, but do not at all feel stuffy. They are posh, yet modern with simple lines. Red is also the color of festivity in much of Asia. Fat Tuesday fun- seekers will find these rooms welcoming and perfect for Mardi Gras excesses.
In addition to there being no cover charge, the biggest advantage is Sakura Karaoke Lounge’s close proximity to the Cermak/Chinatown red line.
