Originating in Oregon, the Thirsty Lion combines restaurant quality food with a wide selection of beer and spirits. It also offers a new level of customer service to its patrons as the establishment aims to develop a relationship with its community.“Thirsty Lion is the perfect fit for this neighborhood and we look forward to providing Denver with great service, a diverse menu, local quality ingredients, and not to mention a great selection of local craft beer” said Thirsty Lion CEO John Plew in a press release.

The Space

The Thirsty Lion boasts just under 8,400 square feet of seating with an additional 2,000 square feet of patio seating, offering plenty for large parties and events for any season.

The gastropub offers 52 beers on tap, with a total of 28 local Colorado brews. The cocktail menu us also impressive with 20 different concoctions including the Gratefruit & Basil Martini, a potentially addicting drink as the grapefruit and basil virtually upstage the Absolut.

The Food

The Thirsty Lion also offers a diverse and sophisticated menu along with its drinks. The Traditional Scotch Eggs may make you feel like you're in an authentic English pub, while the Peppercorn Beef Tenderloin Tips offers generous portions and lots of flavor. A big plus with the food offerings is that the kitchen stays open late, so you can still nosh well to cap off great night. Menu offerings change with the seasons.

The Atmosphere

Staying true to its name, the gastropub combines the best of traditional pubs with the offerings of a modern downtown restaurant. The staff is both cordial and casual, asking your name after introducing themselves. It tries to offer something for everyone and every occasion, which it may well succeed in doing.

Three locations are currently operating in Oregon in addition to another location in Tempe, AZ. The Thirsty Lion Denver opens April 29, 2014.
