Third suspect arrested in Wantagh bong thefts

A Wantagh man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a burglary which occurred at a specialty store in Wantagh in November.

Earlier this month, detectives nabbed two 16-year-old males, who they said burglarized Twisted Glass, located at 1898 Wantagh Ave. Cops said during the burglary, $10,000 worth of artisan glass pipes, commonly referred to as bongs, were stolen.

Tuesday afternoon, detectives found Matthew Cano, 19, of 3256 Park Ave., in possession of the proceeds from that burglary. Cano was allegedly in possession of the stolen property, when he taken into custody at his home.

The 16-year-old defendants, Kenneth Ryall and Kevin Lavelle, were arrested over the weekend and charged with third-degree burglary. Court records show Ryall was arraigned on Jan. 13, where he was conditionally released to the custody of the Nassau County Probation Department. Lavelle was arraigned on Jan. 14 and was also released conditionally to the Probation Department.

Cano is scheduled to face a judge at First District Court in Hempstead for arraignment on Jan. 23.
