Another Edgewater resident died in a motorcycle accident in Volusia County Monday morning, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, following an earlier fatal bike crash Saturday. Volusia County Sheriff’s spokesperson Gary Davidson says 26-year old Michael Francis died at the scene of the latest bike crash around 12:38 Monday morning. The Sheriff’s Office says Francis was riding a motorcycle and following his father’s bike southbound along Indian Harbor Avenue in Oak Hill. The accident is still under investigation, but deputies say the bike of Michael Francis ran into the bike of his father from behind, and both bikers lost control of their motorcycles and crashed. The Sheriff’s Office says neither motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet, and that the father was not injured in the crash.
Motorcycle accidents over the weekend claimed the lives of two other bikers Saturday, one along Old Dixie Highway and the other along State Road 44 in Volusia County.
