If you're one of those people who isn't leaving town this weekend to visit Mom, why not spend the Saturday before Mothers Day enjoying some great music for a great cause? On May 6th, downtown Raleigh's Lincoln Theatre plays host to the annual Band Together charity concert, headlined this year by 90s alt-rockers Third Eye Blind. Also featured are local favorites Dillon Fence, plus Lonnie Walker and US Royalty.
Established after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Band Together is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that organizes concerts and music events to benefit various charities, which have included relief for the Haitian earthquakes, Hurricane Katrina, and local causes like the Boys & Girls Club and the Food Bank of Eastern NC. The beneficiary for this year's concert is Alliance Medical Ministry, whose mission is to provide affordable healthcare to Wake County's working poor.
Tickets for Saturday's event can be purchased via eTix for $20 in advance or at the Lincoln Theatre the day of show for $25. VIP packages, which include food and drink, access to an exclusive silent auction, and a special seating area near the main stage, are $150 and can also be purchased via eTix.
Also included in all ticket prices is free admission to the event after party, taking place inside the Lincoln Theatre and featuring Chapel Hill powerpop outfit I Was Totally Destroying It. Admission for all others is $5 until capacity is reached.
