Third Annual Zombie Prom Shambling to El Rio

For the third year running, SF Zombie Bar is resurrecting the spring school dance the way it should have been all along.

The first year, this event was held at Space Gallery. Last year was at the Elbo Room. This year, it's moving a few blocks further south, to El Rio, on May 10th.

Check out the Facebook event page.

A zombie prom is the most important night of a 1950's teenager's life, filtered through a 21st century teen's ironic sense of distance, with a hint of the much older tradition of the masquerade ball.

For one night, nobody needs to be who they normally are, because they're walking corpses. Or dancing corpses. Or corpses that drink beer and play pool.

Take the zombie thing as seriously as you want, but have a good time. There's going to be a full lineup of performers, a photo booth, a raffle, and usually two attendees are crowned the king and queen at some point in the night.

Plus, one of the musical guests, Cynthia Lin And The Blue Moon All Stars, will be presenting the official release of their new music video, "Zombie Heart."

And as in previous years, proceeds of the event go to benefit the AIDS LifeCycle event.
