Third annual winter concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre only two weeks away

Teamed up for the third annual 'Winter on the Rocks' concert are AEG Live and Icelantic Skis. The event started in 2012, bringing musical warmth to the long winters at one of the world's most iconic venues. Fans across the country have travelled to Red Rocks for what has become the official winter tradition.

Leading this year's concert are alternative hip-hop's Jurassic 5 and DJ duo Duck Sauce.

Jurassic 5 began in 1993 with members of Rebels of Rhythm and Unity Committee. The 6-man crew includes: Charles Stewart (Chali 2na), Dante Givens (Akil), Courtenay Henderson (Zaakir), Marc Stuart (Mark 7even), Mark Potsic (DJ Nu-Mark), and Lucas Macfadden (Cut Chemist). Their music was active until 2007, when the group reportedly went their separate ways due to disagreements. Last year, however, they reformed for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, along with the international tour that brings them to Red Rocks later this month.

American/Canadian duo Armand Van Helden and A-Trak are Duck Sauce, whose debut EP, Greatest Hits, released in July 2010. Their goal as a team is to produce appealing disco house tracks for DJs at clubs to use.

Red Rocks, located in Morrison, CO, is more than a concert amphitheatre. It's a geological attraction filled with trails, wildlife, vistas, even dinosaurs. An outdoor formation, the amphitheatre is a rare, natural geosite, maintained for concerts and events since 1941. Artists like Sting, U2, the Beatles, opera stars, and more have toured to Red Rocks for the outdoor performance of a lifetime.

A new addition to 'Winter on the Rocks' this year was a national contest: Road on the Rocks. The winners (plus guest) are prized what's called the Ultimate Colorado Winter Experience—VIP tickets to the concert, roundtrip airfare, 4 nights at Hotel Teatro, a Jeep for local transportation while in Colorado, VIP tour at Oscar Blues Brewery, Lift Tickets, and 2 pairs of Icelantic Skis. The contest deadline ended Monday.

Tickets to 'Winter on the Rocks' are on sale now:

general admission starts at $52.80 (price does not include service charges)
VIP tickets available for $100, includes access to Warming Hut and Lounge

Available online via Ticketmaster, at all Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone (800.745.3000).

The concert happens Friday, January 31st, at 7pm. Doors open at 6.
