Third Annual Johnny Mac’s House of Spirits Winter Train Run (Photos)

The Third Annual Johnny Mac’s House of Spirits Winter Train Run was held on Sunday, February, 24, 2013 starting and finishing in Asbury Park, N.J.

Runners checked in at Johnny Mac’s House of Spirit’s starting at 8 a.m. After checking in they proceeded to the Asbury Park Train Station located directly across the street. At the train station runners were provided directions prior to boarding the train.

The 175 runners boarded the 9:40 a.m. train going north toward Long Branch. Runners then got off the train at Allenhurst, Elberon or Long Branch.

After getting off they ran back to Johnny Mac’s along Ocean Avenue the Asbury Park Boardwalk past Convention Hall and then back to Johnny Mac’s.

The distances were from 1.5 to 6.5 miles.

At Johnny Mac’s the runners were treated to liquid refreshment and either a custom omlette ior a personal pizza.

Vicki Hoagland of the Mount Carmel School thanked the runners for participating in the fund raiser for the school. The school had volunteers stationed along the course to assure that the runners made their way back safely to Johnny Mac’s. Volunteers from the Jersey Shore Running Club also escorted the runners along the routes to the finish.

Runners are reminded that registration for the RunAPalooza Asbury Park Half Marathon and Jersey Shore Five Miler to be held on April 20, 2013 in Asbury Park is filling up fast and there is a price increase on March 1.
