Third annual Charlotte FemmeFest

Celebrate women and the arts at the 3rd annual Charlotte FemmeFest to be held in the NoDa district on Saturday, May 22, 2010. FemmeFest is an eclectic collection of local and regional musicians, writers, visual artists, filmmakers and songwriters. There will be live artist performances and 30 different vendor showcases at the Arts and Crafts Bazaar and Merchant Area.

Come prepared to share in the experience and talents of women through song, purchase books from women authors, purchase crafts from women artists, and get your FemmeFest t-shirts and posters. Sign up for the FemmeFest Raffle or pickup some giveaways from the event’s sponsors.

The aim of FemmeFest, according to the event’s organizers, is to reach, inspire, and strengthen our cultural community with the work of underrepresented female voices throughout the region and beyond. In addition, FemmeFest will continue to assist non-profit organizations that serve the women and children in our community.

Tickets for FemmeFest are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Center of Hope, a women and children’s homeless shelter. Money raised from the raffle will also support the Center of Hope.

FemmeFest takes place at multiple venues in the NoDa Arts District in Charlotte. The center of the festivities is located at the intersection of North Davidson and 36th Streets. FemmeFest begins at 5:30 pm and runs until 1:30 am. NoDa is located just two miles north of Uptown Charlotte within five minutes of both I-77 and I-85, in the heart of the Historic North Charlotte community. From I-77 Northbound:
Take I-77 to John Belk Freeway and head towards downtown. Take the Davidson Street exit, cross Davidson Street and go up to Caldwell (Caldwell turns into Parkwood) and take a right. (This sounds confusing, but you avoid a train intersection). Go to N. Davidson Street and take a left. Stay on N. Davidson; you will reach 36th Street.

From I-77 Southbound:
Take I-77 to Brookshire Freeway and head towards downtown. Take the Davidson Street exit and go to Caldwell (Caldwell turns into Parkwood) and take a left. Cross over I-277 and go to N. Davidson Street and take a left onto N. Davidson. Stay on N. Davidson; you will reach 36th Street.
