What if there was a way to live a great life, a life beyond anything you've ever experienced before? Any takers? The question we have to ask ourselves is, "Does God want me to have a great life?" How would you answer that?
Perhaps you already have experienced every fulfillment you could ever want in life. If that's the case, then if you haven't already begun, my encouragement to you would be teach as many people as you know the keys and secrets to living a great life in the sight of God.
If you're still in process of growing into that life you've always sensed was yours to experience, then let me offer one thing that could be helpful in the process. Meditate the Word of God day and night. Day and night.
Did hearing "Meditate the Word of God day and night" excite you? If not, why not? People typically get excited about things they believe in, or feel will work for them. I've shared this type of "meditation" counsel with many people, and some get a charge and lift from it, and for some this counsel is a dud.
In my casual investigation of why people don't jump up and down about meditation, here's just a few things I've discovered.
- Meditation isn't viewed as a "sexy" topic.
- Meditation has been tainted by new age ideas.
- Meditation requires too much work.
- Meditation isn't understood, thus, not used.
- Meditation takes time I don't have.
I understand every one of these meditation resistant ideas. Yet consider a few general ideas the Bible presents about meditation and it's benefits. In I Timothy 4:15-16 Paul says, "Meditate on these things, give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and thosewho hear you." God is into your progress appearing to all.
Consider the great mandated counsel and direction God gave Joshua in preparation for leading millions into the battles and work necessary to take the promised land. "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8 Sounds like the pathway to a great life. Just by taking charge of what you choose to think on day and night as a way of life.
Listen, I know this is no great groundbreaking revelation for many believers, but many people want a great life and are struggling to live one. With that said, I know that meditation can become a great "renewed" revelation for many. I don't know everything, but I do know this thing--day and night meditation will lay the groundwork for everything God personally and scripturally promised you to come to pass in your life.
Just meditate on Isaiah 26:3and you'll find that a mind stayed on God will keep you in perfect peace as you secure the life you know God has made available to you.
There are many more reference I could share with you to support the perspective that we can live great by thinking right, however, let me add just one more.
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the Word of the Lord, and in His Word he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither. And whatever He does shall prosper." Psalm 1:1-3
Now that's a great promise for a great life just by thinking right day and night
