January is National Train Your Dog Month through APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers). While Belgians tend to be super smart and easy to train, some guidance is always a good thing. An athletic, intelligent, high energy breed like the Belgians can easily become a problem dog if left untrained. Plus training can be fun!
To help dog lovers make the most of their relationships with their dogs, APDT is offering a number of wonderful free training resources for the month of January. Free webinars include such great topics as: Dog Safety: What to Teach Your Kids by Joan Orr, Loose Leash Walking by Gail Fisher and Separation Anxiety in Dogs by Melissa Bain DVM DACVB MS. Most people know a Belgian or two who could use a refresher on those topics!
There are also some great Facebook Chats scheduled. Topics here include Housetraining by Teoti Anderson CPDT-KA on January 18 at 6:30 pm EST and Common Dog Behavior Problems by Marjie Alonso and Katenna Jones on January 27 at 4 pm EST.
The website also includes a wealth of great training tips - all easy to access and understand. Twenty five uses for sit and down can help make your obedience and rally training relevant to "real life". Twenty use for tricks will help keep your Belgian's active mind busy during the winter months.
Trainers featured are experienced dog people and certainly the price is right. Let your Belgian guide your training this month.
