Think spring with Home and Garden shows

Winter in Wisconsin can feel like it drags on forever.  Though this year there has not been a lot of snow, everything is still brown and dreary.  Before long spring will be here, so now is the time to start planning the garden with the little helpers.  Get the kids excited for spring by attending these Home & Garden shows for flower and vegetable garden space ideas.

Milwaukee Area Home & Garden Shows 2012

  • The Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Show is going on now through Feb. 12. at the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park.  Admission is $8 for adults at the door, except seniors 60 and over get in for $6.   Free for children 12 and under.  Print their coupon for $2 off of admission.
  • Home, Garden, and Landscape Show will take place at the Waukesha Expo Center Forum Building March 9-11.  More details to come.
  • The Realtors Home and Garden Show will be coming to the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park March 23-April 1; closed March 26-27.  Admission is $8 for adults; free for children 12 and under.

For something different just to take in the beauty of a garden, visit the Mitchell Domes where plants and flowers are in bloom year round.  Going on now through March 18 is the Fantasy Garden Train Show.  Admission ranges $5-$6.50 depending on age and residency.

As spring approaches, get the family excited by attending shows, searching online, and looking through books and magazines to pick out plants, flowers, and vegetables to plant.  Start thinking about maintenance and tools as well.  The vibrant colors will help pass the time and drive away the winter blues.
