Think on these things

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. (Philippians 4:8 AMP)

We need to meditate. Our minds worry and mull over unpleasant occurrences and a fearful future if we don't. It just makes us grumpy and even physically unhealthy. Meditation in God's word is spelled out clearly in this verse. We find a truth in God's word for example, and we weigh it. What are all the applications to our lives? This verse can help me internally feel freer. It can give me positive words to speak to others and give them a freer feeling. It can help me through a hard time to have hope.

Who is someone kind, winsome and gracious? To me it is Billy Graham. He needs prayer for his health. He's still a plumb line for pastors after all these years. He's the example to follow but as he has followed Jesus all of his life. He might be lonely since his wife Ruth is in heaven. Lord, we ask you to heal Billy Graham, his lungs and anything else that could be an issue. We long to keep him here. As he is an example for us because you have lead him all his life, help us to learn from him. Teach us to care about souls the way he does. If he has any loneliness from missing his lifelong companion, heal it with Your sweetness and your mercy. Thank You for listening, Savior. Amen.

This is what we should be doing all day, trying to find people to pray for, problems to place in His hand. And especially we should be trying to find joy in our lives, lovable people and pets, things we can give praise to God for. Our minds will be more at peace and we might even be more like Jesus.
