“Think Like a Man” beats out “22 Jump Street” at box office

There was three sequels battling it out for the spot this weekend and it was a close race between the top three spots. Each movie only a few million off from each spot.

The latest sequel to come out, Think Like a Man Too is able to grab the top spot with an estimated $30 million it’s opening weekend. The first movie was also a surprise hit as the movie did far better then it was expected to.

22 Jump Street has another solid weekend, but fell just short of the number one spot again with an estimated $29 million. The movie has just crossed over the $100 million mark and is absolutely destroying it’s $50 million budget.

The third movie to give a run for the top spot is How to Train Your Dragon 2 which took in an estimated $25 million over the weekend. This movie is doing about as well as expected and the slow release of family movies could be why. Dragon should pass over the $100 million mark by the end of next week and then perhaps it’s $145 million budget by the week after.

The other new movie to premiere this week, Jersey Boys, had a decent opening with an estimated $13.5 million while Maleficent rounded up the top with an estimated $13 million, just moving it past it’s $180 million budget.

With the new Transformers set to come out this week, that movie should find it’s way to the top spot, even if it’s not as good as the other three.
