Nutrition is one of the most important things in our lives. How we feed our bodies determines how we look, how we feel, even aids us in the resistance of illness. Modern day medicine has made advancements through science and has created a “pill for every ill”, but is that the best for us? Yes, if I or a member of my family is ever in a car accident or house fire I want the best ER staff and medical care I can find. But for my daily health and wellbeing, I would much rather rely on the methods that millions of our ancestors used for years.
It is no secret that there is an obesity epidemic in our country. Young children are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and the rates of cancer and heart disease continue to rise every year. Look at the foods in the grocery stores and even in our own pantries. They are virtually filled with chemicals poisoning us slowly day in and day out. They are convenient and they taste good, and they usually supply us with quite a sugar rush, but they are the worst things in the world we need to be putting into our bodies.
Foods naturally found in nature have been known to heal and protect for centuries. Extremely high doses of vitamin C has even been known to cure cancer when given intravenously. Yes, you read that right, I said CURE cancer. No pink ribbons, no walks, just plain old everyday beautiful, natural organic vitamin C. Berries and leafy green vegetables rich in antioxidants keep our immune systems better than any chemical concoction big pharma ever could. And just think how much nicer it is to have a beautiful fresh spinach and strawberry salad with dinner than standing in line at the pharmacy waiting for the needle of a flu shot!
The bottom line is, what we put into our bodies effect us on every level. So why not give it what it wants and (nutritionally) craves. Put down the chips, soda, white bread, and processed meats, and enjoy a grass fed sirloin, huge leafy green organic salad and a baked potato. Not only will you feel satiated with the meal, but after a few days you will feel better than you have in a long time. And the other awesome benefits include weight loss and an increased sex drive. Do I need to say win, win, WIN?? So start with small changes and put in the good food and crowd the bad ones out. You won’t be sorry you did.
