Here are a few websites to help you plan a picnic:
Celebrations.com offers general picnic ideas
Alanskitchen.com and Picnicworld.net features picnic recipes.
Last minute healthy picnic ideas:
*Buy ready made salads or sandwiches from Trader Joe's or Subway.
*Pita and hummus, bruschetta, tabouli
*Cheese and crackers
*Whole fruits such as grapes, apples, oranges, berries and bananas. (Watermelons are perfect for a picnic on a hot day, but remember to prep them before you leave the house.)
Home made pasta salad
Cook any pasta - penne or ties work best
steam any assortment of vegetables (broccoli, peppers, peas, beans, asparagus, spinach, corn etc..)
combine veggies with pasta, toss with olive oil, salt and granulated (or fresh) garlic and pretso!
Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!
