So we’re back again with this week's "Things to Do" article for Missoula. Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. I thoroughly enjoyed my first First Night Missoula – hats off to the incredible crew at MissoulaCultural.org for organizing this amazing night of talent and community involvement. I’ll have a full report in the next few days – needless to say I was thoroughly impressed.
For all you fresh fruit and vegetable lovers, don’t miss the Heirloom Winter Farmers Market every Saturday at the Western Montana Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tonight is First Friday here in Missoula, and it should be a great one. Festivities kick off at 5 p.m. If you enjoyed the KECI coverage of the recent Jordan Graham trial, then you should already be familiar with one of the feature presentations for tonight. Local artist Nikki Rossignol, who did all the drawings for KECI’s coverage, will be presenting her original work at The Dark Room from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Entitled The Imagined Adventures of Edwin Hubble, it promises to be a spectacular display of artistic design. I can’t wait.
Here are a few suggestions of things to do this weekend and next week. Don't miss all the great NFL playoff action this weekend. Catch it, as well as your favorite NBA and NHL action at my favorite sports bar, Hooters.
For all you thespians out there, MCT will be having auditions for its next show, Lend me a Tenor, on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. This is NOT a musical, but a fast moving farce with parts available for four men and four women.
Reading is always a great escape, and we have four great local bookstores: Fact & Fiction, located at 200 N. Higgins and in the University Center; The Book Exchange, located at 2335 Brooks Street; Shakespere & Co. Booksellers, located at 1035 S. Third Street W and Bird's Nest Books, located at 217 N. Higgins. Take some time and enjoy these jewels of Missoula, where you can catch up on some great reads and do some shopping. Check out the publication party for Bryce Andrews’ new book Badluck Way at the Top Hat on Tuesday at 6 p.m. In addition, don’t miss the Second Wednesday Book Group meeting at the Missoula Public Library to discuss Julian Barnes’ book The Sense of an Ending at 7 p.m. on Wednesday
