Had a blast at the Durango Songwriters Expo last weekend in Buellton, as well as at the AXS TV filming of The World's Greatest Tribute Bands at the Roxy on Monday. This weekend we're off to classes for the 51st Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire, which will continue for the next four weeks before the Faire opens on April 6, running until May 19. As usual, there are plenty of things to do here in LA - here are a few other things to do this weekend and next week.
Reading is always a great escape, and our local bookstore, Skylight Books is one of the best around. On Sunday at 5:00 p.m., Michael Heald and Anonymous will read and sign Goodbye to the Nervous Apprehension and Love is not Constantly Wondering. Then on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., Louisa Hall will read from The Carriage House. On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., Ryan McIlvan will read from Elders. Finally, on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Jim Gavin will read from Middle Men. Take some time and enjoy this jewel of Los Feliz, where you can catch up on some great reads and do some shopping.
It's never a bad time to catch a movie, and this weekend is no exception. This weekend, at the Vintage Cinemas Los Feliz 3 you can catch some recent releases, including Side Effects, Quartet and Jack the Giant Slayer, screening at 1:30 p.m., 4:15 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. Over at the Vintage Cinemas Vista Theatre, it's Oz the Great and Powerful, screening at 12:15 p.m., 3:20 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. There's a midnight showing tonight of The Karate Kid.
Plenty of plays out there for all you theater lovers. Check out www.plays411.com and www.Goldstar.com for discounts and listings.
There are great venues in town to catch the latest indie music. Don't miss these great shows this week:
