Things to do for Valentines Day

In Connecticut’s Litchfield Hills and Fairfield County Valentines Day is celebrated in a variety of different ways from wine tastings to tea tastings the area offers something for everyone.

Hopkins Vineyard for example overlooking beautiful Lake Waramaug in New Preston (25 Hopkins Rd.) is offering a Valentine’s Sweetheart Package in The Hayloft Wine Bar from Feb. 14 - 17. The Vineyard staff put together a romantic pairing for you and your Valentine that includes two options. The Tasting For Two offers a selection of small batch, limited edition estate grown wines from their winemaker’s cellar and two hand-painted keepsake wine glasses. The Sweetheart Platter includes a selection of local artisan cheeses from Arethusa Farm in Litchfield, fine chocolates from the Kent Chocolate Company in Kent and a delicious fruit accompaniment from The Gracious Gourmet in Bridgewater. Each treat is paired with a glass of Hopkins wine. There will be live music on Thursday 2/14 and Saturday 2/16 from 3 p.m. -6 p.m. and Friday 2/15 and Sunday 2/17 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. The cost per couple is $60. Miranda Vineyard on 42 Ives Rd. in Goshen is offering a decadent Valentine's Day inspired Tasting Menu of five Chocolate infused courses that are perfectly paired with five award winning wines on Valentine's Day, February 14, at 6 p.m. The tasting is $50.00 per person. If arts and crafts are of interest, on February 13 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. the Litchfield History Museum will offer visitors the chance to make Victorian Valentine's Day cards as well as contemporary ones. If you fancy flower arrangements and want to create something special, head to The Garden Education Center of Greenwich. The Center is offering a Cupid’s fantasy flower arrangement program with Miriam Landsman at 10 a.m. that will focus on contemporary floral designs for on Valentine’s Day. It is tea time on Feb. 13 at the New Canaan at the Historical Society located on 13 Oenoke Ridge, in New Canaan. Here kids will enjoy a Victorian Valentine's Day Tea from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Afternoon tea and treats will be prepared and enjoyed by all visitors. The participants will make a special Valentine's Day craft to bring home. This is a very popular workshop and is always a delightful afternoon for all who attend.
