Over the course of the next few weeks, depending upon the Spokane area you live in, its spring break. The children are home or visiting their non custodial parents and parents are scratching their heads to come up with unique and fun ideas of what to do with the family. Here are a few to get you started on your way to family fun.
Plan a mini vacation in and around the Spokane area. Team children up into teams that get along if need be but by all means go out, enjoy and have a great time with your blended family.
Riverfront park: Ride the carousel or take a walk along the trails. Children may bring their bicycles and enjoy some great outdoor activity. Bring along a picnic lunch and make a day of it. Don't forget to bring your camera and take a lot of pictures for your scrapbook albums.
Feed the marmots or ducks at Riverfront park. This is always an adventure. Animals are great fun to watch and even an inquisitive toddler will enjoy this one.
Take in a matinée movie. Matinées are much less expensive than regular show time hours. You could still make it to the park after a movie or before if you plan your day accordingly.
Check out Mobius at Riverpark Square. No need to change your plans if its raining, this attraction will still be loads of fun. Please check out their website for hours and current pricing.
Visit Spokane Childrens Museum. A fun place where children of all backgrounds can come together and play, ask questions and have fun.
Take an interesting trip into farming and visit the Farm Museum. Known as “The Red Shed” located just North of Spokane on Highway 365 in Deer Park, this is still a working farm so call early to make sure their hours coincide with yours.
For a real adventure take a trip to Cat Tales. Zoological Park. A home for many endangered members of the cat family you'll be closer than you've ever imagined to some very big cats.
If your spring break is after April 15th you might want to check out what Mirabeau park has to offer. Located at:13500 Mirabeau Pkwy., Spokane Valley, WA, 99216. A great playground and hiking trails will await your arrival. Bring along your picnic lunch and some great hiking shoes and you'll all enjoy a day out. Let kids explore the hiking trails or simply enjoy the park while the kids check out the giant dinosaur eggs and the great bouncy play area. You won't be bored here.
Spring break is a time to begin enjoying the out of doors again with your family and friends. Gather together and cherish the new birth of the plants and trees and above all cherish the time spent with your children. They won't stay young forever.
