Welcome, this is the first installment of my “Things I Don't Like” series. We all go through life and experience things that bother us, irritate us, and things we can't stand. Whether you can relate or not I will be giving the “real” on everything that bugs me.
Taaka Vodka
So lately I have been really stressed. I'm going through things at work, my fiancé is withholding the booty, finances, car trouble, etc. How does the saying go? When it rains it pours. Well now its a downpour in my living room.
After a hard days work I came to the conclusion that I needed a drink. Some people smoke marijuana, take pain pills, and do other illegal drugs to take their mind off of their troubles but not me. I use alcohol for that purpose. I am not a drinker like that but every now and again I would go and buy a bottle of wine or liquor to take the edge off. So I formulated a plan after work and made my way to the liquor store.
When I got to the liquor store I did not have much money to spend. It was the beginning of the month and all my bills were due so I knew I had to go cheap. I needed enough for 2 people though because I figured me and my fiancé would enjoy a few drinks together that night. She has been going through some things too so I figured it would put her in a better mood as well. When it comes to liquor I don't buy into the fads such as Ciroc, Grey Goose, Patron, etc. I would buy Tito's Handmade Vodka or Luksusowa but because of financial constraints today they weren't an option. In the store in my area there is this makeshift rack with other liquors on it. I look at the very bottom shelf and what do I see? Taaka! That's right Taaka Vodka! Then I see the price – 1.75L for $12. I ask the guy behind the counter if it was a good vodka. He told me it was a great value then said he can barely keep it on the shelves. I decide to buy it and to my surprise the price was wrong. It wasn't selling for $12 it was selling $10 for 1.75L (what a value!). Turn's out it was on the wrong section of the rack. “this must be my lucky day” I thought as I walked to my car and drove home.
So I make it home feeling good about what was going to transpire that night. I ended up just buying something from a local restaurant putting it on a plate and telling my fiancé I made it. She actually believed it, I think. After dinner I put my son to sleep and came downstairs and surprised her with the Taaka. She made a weird face but then said we finally get to relax and asked me to pour her a shot. I obliged and in the back of my mind I'm thinking this may be the night. The drought is over!!! When she took the shot she made the ugliest face I ever saw her make in her life. She said she hated it. I decided to take a shot of my own to convince her that it didn't taste that bad. “Dear God” I took the shot and it was worse than I thought. It was strong, nasty, and tasted like rubbing alcohol. I felt it as it traveled down my throat and entered my stomach. As I lied and told her how good it was she told me she wasn't drinking it straight and advised we mix it with something. We had cranberry juice in the fridge so I mixed it with the Taaka. It absolutely didn't work!!! The Taaka overpowered the juice and make it hard to tolerate. She said she wasn't drinking that crap and told me to never buy it again. The Taaka only seemed to put her in a worse mood. My fiancé went upstairs and I followed her up and I was denied. She went to sleep and I ended up drinking the Taaka downstairs while watching episodes of “Everybody Love Raymond.” The whole time I was thinking of what could have been. Thank you Taaka!!!!!
I do not like Taaka Vodka.............
