This weekend take a dip into springtime with some family friendly events. With Easter in our weekend past it’s time to move on and prepare for summertime. This weekend there are some fun events going on that you can take the whole family to.
Diamondz Events Center in Jerome is for the first time ever holding an ALL-AGES karaoke contest. This event starts this Friday April 25th for qualifying karaokers and continues the competition on Friday May 2nd. Qualifying contestants will compete on May 16th for the winning prizes. First place gets $500.00, Second place gets $250.00 and Third place gets $150.00. The judging is based on voice quality, stage performance, and audience appreciation (the louder they cheer the better you score). Don’t worry the judges are all music professionals from local bands, schools, and businesses. The competition starts at 7:30 PM good luck on your vocals. (P.S. There is a $5.00 cover charge at the door) Diamondz is located at 220 W. Main St. in Jerome.
This Saturday April 26th let your kids be engulfed by prehistoric history, and Idaho history by learning to become a Junior Ranger. The Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument is hosting a “how to be a Junior Ranger day”. This event is free to the public and is designed for kids and their family to learn more about the area around them. The first even starts at 10AM and goes till 11AM and will talk about the Hagerman Fossil Beds. The second event is from 11AM to 12 PM and talks about Jr. Paleontologists. The third event is from 1PM to 2PM and discusses Minidoka. The fourth and last even is from 2PM to 3PM and is called Night Explorer, which is a new program designed to discover the wonders of the universe. This even is located at the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument at 221 N State Street in Hagerman.
This Saturday April 26th head on down to the YMCA on E street here in Twin Falls and have a fun filled day for the whole family. From 10 AM to 12 PM the YMCA will be hosting tons of activities for parents and children to learn how to be healthy. The theme is “build a happier healthier kid”. The activities will be inside the YMCA in the tennis center, and outside the YMCA on the surrounding grass. With each activity you pass you will get a stamp in your book, take your book to the welcome table and show them all the stamps you got to get a free “Healthy Kids Day” t-shirt. The activities include face painting, healthy eating contest, baby crawling contest, jump house, obstacle course, children’s dance and yoga, and much more. They will even have an appearance from Hannah Newhouse and her championship race car. This event is free.
