ABC 13 reported a tragic and shocking story last week about a Houston woman who died after crashing her Toyota 4-runner into another vehicle, and then hitting a tree. She died on impact. The mother and her two sons (4 and 6) had just attended a school activity for her 4-year-old son. Before the accident, she had bought groceries and dropped off a friend. Fortunately, the two boys survived the crash.
Already upset by the fatal incident, witnesses of the accident were even more upset by what happened next. Witnesses to the accident told police they saw onlookers rush to the woman’s SUV, but not to help. Instead, they saw an opportunity to steal her groceries. The thieves managed to make off with the dead woman’s groceries before medical personnel or police arrived. Police said the accident was the mother’s fault. No one in the SUV wore a seatbelt.
