They're Ba-ack! Mike Judge Talks Beavis and Butthead at NYCC

“Huh, Huh, Huh. Heh, Heh, Heh.” If you grew up in the nineties and don’t recognize those laughs then your parents probably blocked you from watching MTV’s Beavis and Butthead. But have no fear: Beavis and Butthead are returning and this time, music videos aren’t the only thing in the duo’s crosshairs. Prepare to see Reality TV get skewered by America’s favorite delinquents. To celebrate their return their creator, Mike Judge came to New York Comic Con and took five minutes to talk to me about the 90’s icons.

“I got real enthusiastic when the president of MTV sent me the DVD’s of Jersey Shore. I started watching them and thought I could do something with this.” Judge said of the decision to skewer reality shows (in addition to music videos), “All these shows are perfect for Beavis and Butthead to sit and watch.” When asked which show’s he liked skewering the most, Mike answered “Sixteen and Pregnant and Teen Mom.”“Although there is a new show called Cuffed that is good for skewering.”

But criticizing MTV culture isn’t the bungholes’ only job. The twosome will be getting involved in several adventures that will cause catastrophic effects on the lives of those around them. Mike says one of the many stories we can expect to see over the course of the season is an episode where Beavis and Butthead tour an army base and end up flying drones because they think it’s a video game! Other stories will include the return of Cornholio, the boys trying to become vampires and werewolves, a Daria cameo, and Beavis finally being allowed to yell, “Fire!”

When asked if it was difficult voicing characters he hasn’t done for over ten years, Mike answered, “A little bit” but over all, “it came back very quickly. I think my voice still sounds the same.”

What else can I say? Beavis and Butthead are coming back on Thursdays at 10pm. This kicks ass! Heh, Heh, Heh, I said “ass!”
