They don't all make it out alive...even the young, the healthy and those who are described as "friendly."
Sometimes, those who appear to be the most likely to survive, are the ones who die.
Dogs like Pepper, a six-year-old German shepherd who was left at the Baldwin Park, Calif., animal care and control on Sept. 19, by her owner.
Pepper was at the facility for weeks - she was described as "very friendly," but it was not enough to save her life - she was killed today - October 8. Today she took one last walk with a stranger, to a room from which she never walked back out of alive.
Happy, smiling dogs like the un-named new mother who was killed in South Carolina almost two years ago today...
Or the young, happy pit bull named "Missy," whose smile could light up a room...
Even dogs like "Boots," who had a broken leg - an injury and a sad face which should have garnered great attention.
Right now, a senior German shepherd named "Butterfly," waits patiently for someone to save her life, as does a handsome, three-year-old German shepherd in South Carolina, who is missing a leg. For weeks, beautiful "Candy Lee" has waited for someone to save her precious life as well....
Never assume that someone else will save their life - never assume that some are adoptable enough to not need your help.
Not every dog makes it out alive.
