As the PAX events at Magic roll forward, more cards are, on and off, being spoiled. Trick Jarrett has another spoiler in store for us - a common black creature with bestow that sports a revived creature type not seen since the early days of Magic. Take a gander at Cavern Lampad.
Cavern Lampad 3B
Enchantment Creature - Nymph (Common)
Bestow 5B (If you cast this card for its bestow cost, it's an Aura spell with enchant creature. It becomes a creature again if it's not attached to a creature.)
Enchanted creature gets +2/+2 and has intimidate.
Certainly both that mana cost and bestow cost are quite steep for what you get. But a 2/2 with good evasion for four mana isn't bad in Limited, per se, and making a big creature +2/+2 bigger and evasive can end games that would otherwise come down to the wire. Certainly this isn't very playable in most Constructed formats, but it looks like Theros block Limited will be fairly slow; I'd put this in a partly-black Sealed deck because bestow looks to be deceptively powerful.
This is, of course, also indication that many other enchantment creatures in the set will be Nymphs - and that Dryads will possibly be errataed to have that type.
What do you think of this lovely underworld Nymph? Let me know in the comments.
