As the PAX Magic Party rolls on, many more spoilers are becoming available - including something that was quite recently a taboo subject, one that R&D vowed never to do again: A legendary land. Here's Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx:
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
Legendary Land (Rare)
Tap: Add 1 to your mana pool.
2, Tap: Choose a color. Add to your mana pool an amount of mana of that color equal to your devotion to that color. (Your devotion to that color is the number of mana symbols of that color in the mana costs of permanents you control.)
As I mentioned before, this is notable simply for being a legendary land - since the legendary rules have changed, and a legendary permanent doesn't nuke those of the same name its controller's opponent's control anymore, it's now safe to put the type on lands (previously there was the problem of legendary lands, especially popular ones, being played in off-color decks purely as free conditional land destruction). This also shows off the possibilities of devotion - This ability would be hard to do with chroma, which was changed to devotion in this set due to a lack of flavor and the fact that it was too open-ended. This card is of course meant to be reminiscent of Cabal Coffers, and is easily almost as or just as strong - it may require more effort to get a lot out of, but it grows faster and is flexible color-wise. This is surely something of a development tool, meant to push monocolor decks of all stripes, but it works fine in multicolor contexts as well with hybrid; it's simply better with monocolor.
What do you think of this mass mana making shrine to all the gods? Let me know in the comments.
