Between all the excitement over the reveal of five Theros rare creatures from the intro packs, some of the other information from the same article seems to have fallen through the cracks, so to speak. One of the other Theros products that was shown off was the Event Deck, and although we don't know anything about its contents yet (other than sixty cards, a fifteen-card sideboard, and ten rares) we can tell a handful of things from its cover art.
First: This is further confirmation, after some other art, that Theros has a race of Cat-people. Whether they'll be called Leonin, or Nacatl, or something else entirely is up in the air. Given the story of the Nemean Lion, I wouldn't be surprised if they were called something like Nemeans. And, like their predecessors, they'll probably be at least in part white. I'm thinking they'll be white and red, since green doesn't lack for creature types in this setting, but white and red both have a distinct lack of small sapient races.
Those colors also seem to indicate the colors of this event deck - we're probably looking at a red-white aggro build, perhaps with a few creatures with heroic, similar to the Heroes deck in Duel Decks: Heroes vs. Monsters, but appreciably different, of course, focused more on the small end of the mana curve.
What do you think of the Event Deck's art? What do you think it will contain? Let me know in the comments.
