Temple of Abandon, Temple of Deceit, Temple of Mystery, Temple of Silence, and Temple of Triumph are five of the newest "Theros" spoilers revealed today Sept. 6, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set in an article by Sam Stoddard on DailyMtg.com. These five rare "Theros" dual lands may not seem that powerful at first glance compared to the shock lands from the "Return to Ravnica" block.

You'll notice that the new "Theros" dual lands are essentially guildgates with scry 1. Scry can help you flesh out your early draws hitting that much needed third, fourth, or fifth turn land drop. Because they're land cards, they don't require any investment of mana and provide an effect for free.
The trade off of course is that Temple of Abandon, Temple of Deceit, Temple of Mystery, Temple of Silence, and Temple of Triumph each enter the battlefield tapped, delaying you from casting powerful spells. In multiple, you may be behind your opponent in the casting cost of spells you play, however you'll be up ahead in card quality. Late game, scry can transform another dead land draw into a much needed answer or threat which helps you win the duel.
Part of a ten card cycle, the remaining five dual lands will be split up between "Journey to Nyx" and "Born of the Gods."
According to Stoddard:
Tom LaPille made a strong argument, though, that the previous year in Standard had extra time with the "Return to Ravnica" shocklands, and that the "Gatecrash: color pairs could use some extra time in the spotlight, so that is the model we went with. This left us with five more for the rest of the block. What will the order be for their release? You'll have to wait and see.
How will you use Temple of Abandon, Temple of Deceit, Temple of Mystery, Temple of Silence, and Temple of Triumph?
