The Denver based organization There With Care will be holding the First Annual Dia de los Muertos, translated to The Day of the Dead. The first thought coming to mind is how could these organizations, dedicated to helping people and the families of critically ill people, hold an event of this nature? I thought the same too when I first started reading the press release.
Dia de los Muertos is a celebration in Mexico where they celebrate the lives of those who have passed on. The Aztecs believed those of us alive now are in a sort of “dream life.” This dream life ends when we pass on and we go to the actually living part of our lives, which some of us call the “After Life, Heaven, etc.” So with this being said There With Care and Eric Cares are inviting all of us to help them “Celebrate” the lives of the many who have lost a loved one or are caring for those who they help who in the process of caring for a loved one expected to pass due to some dreadful illness.
This Holiday is similar to “All Saints Day” which is celebrated in the US by those of the Catholic and some other Christian Faiths, who celebrate the “martyrdom” of saints.
Eric Cares is an organization which was founded on the celebrating and commemoration of the beautiful life of a child. Having a fundraising event celebrating the lives of those who have passed on, either to an after-life or not, seemed to be a perfect fit. So, with all this being said please join There With Care and Eric Cares in making this “first annual” event a huge success.
The event will take place on Thursday, October 24th, at Linger Restaurant, 2030 W 30th Ave Denver, CO 80211. For directions to Linger click here.
The event is $75 per person which includes dinner, drinks and celebration. Tickets are limited to and can be purchased online at ThereWithCare.org/Linger.
All donations to the event are tax-deductible and go directly to the families to use for funeral expenses of their loved one and will allow them to celebrate the life of their departed.
Melody Jamali, the Eric Cares executive director is noted as saying: “In the two years since its inception, Eric Cares has helped many families in the Denver and Boulder areas celebrate the lives of the children they have lost and there are many organizations that help families when their child is sick, but there are few places to turn if their child loses the battle. The goal of this event is to raise awareness of this fund and to help support families during one of the hardest times of their lives.”
