A Brilliant Lie announced last week that Matthew Movens had joined the band as a permanent member. The band, Tara Lightfoot, Chris Lane, Zach Teman and Jason Lemrond, is “ready to raise the bar even higher” as a five piece and they are now searching far and wide for a new Dinocorn/stagehand.

Orlando band Meka Nism launched their Kickstarter last Friday with a big party. The band is looking to raise $11,111 by September 7 to fund their next EP, “The Shift.” The band is offering up some cool perks that include a featured slot in an upcoming video, lifetime passes to all Meka Nism shows, a private concert or fans can even pledge enough to become a band member for a show.

The Jonnie Morgan Band has launched a Kickstarter. They are hoping to raise at least $5,000 by September 3 in order to get a tour bus. The Orlando band is off to a great start as they have already sailed past the halfway mark in pledges. Fans can earn the opportunity to have their name written somewhere on the JMBus, an all expenses paid day with the band in Florida or even have Jonnie Morgan write a custom song and post a performance of it on YouTube.

Orlando band The Getbye also has a Kickstarter campaign going to get a tour bus. The band has until October 9 to raise $8,500 and is offering a variety of fan perks that include a custom song and the fan’s name engraved on the dashboard of the tour bus.

There are still a couple of other fundraisers under way this week. They have just crossed the half-way point on Give Forward in an effort to raise money for Orlando area singer/songwriter Sean “Legacy” Maloney to get a new leg. Singer/songwriters Reggie Williams and Matthew Fowler have surpassed their $6,000 Kickstarter goal for their split EP and national tour with a few days left to go.

On Friday there are a couple of noteworthy shows. At Firestone Live fans can catch Rick Garitta’s first show with Traverser. At Uncle Lou’s is The Glorious Rebellion’s release show for their self-titled 7” record.

Saturday night there are also a couple of notable shows. Orlando area band Rosemary Station has their debut show at The Haven and at Will’s Pub, three bands, Me Chinese, Room Full of Strangers and The Band in Heaven, are celebrating new releases.
