Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the few years, you'd realize that the Universal Orlando Resort is undergoing some major expansion. After the successful launch of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the them park giant has started to bite at the heels of their rodent competitors down the road, and is threatening to become the top attraction in Central Florida. Recently, the park has added a new themed hotel, Cabana Bay, and is planning other new and exciting attractions in the coming years.
Later in the summer, the park will undergo one of it's largest expansions yet, as Diagon Alley finally opens to the public, bringing even more of Harry Potter’s adventures to life at Universal Orlando Resort. The vision for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley is unprecedented. The spectacularly themed environment, located within Universal Studios Florida, will double the size of the sweeping area already dedicated to Harry Potter’s adventures at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, expanding it across both Universal theme parks. It will create new experiences based on the signature areas of London, Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley.
On Thursday, May 8, Universal Creative revealed a first look at the goblins that will be featured in Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts will be the signature ride of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. It will be a groundbreaking, multi-dimensional thrill ride that will place riders in the middle of an incredible adventure as they navigate their way through the Gringotts vaults.
“Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts will be like no other attraction in the entire world,” said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. “From the moment we saw Gringotts bank in the films, we knew we wanted to bring it to life for our guests – and we’re doing this in a way the world has never seen before.”
Because of this new expansion, the park is stepping up its search for new team members for full-time, part-time and seasonal positions now available across the entire destination. Positions, including management roles, are available in areas such as Food Services, Attractions, Operations - and beyond.
New team members will be part of the 3,500 new employees Universal Orlando hires in 2014 as the resort opens eight new Universal CityWalk venues, the Cabana Bay Beach Resort hotel and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter- Diagon Alley.
Base hourly pay for Universal team members – including all those hired beginning today – will increase to $9 from $8 on June 1. The increase is part of Universal Orlando’s ongoing effort to provide the best possible work environment for its team members. Base rates will continue to be reviewed moving forward.
As part of its recruitment efforts, Universal Orlando will hold a virtual job fair on Saturday, May 10.
