Help! Help! Help!
John 16:33 (KJV)
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
From the time of birth until the day of death humans are taught to be self reliant. As we grow we are taught to do everything on our own.
Then one day our world comes crushing down. By lost of a love one, a close friend, by robbery, or an accident, the world as we know make a wide left turn, everything from this moment on is going to change.
What do we do? A rush of feeling over take us, we want to cry, scream, anger rushes in, we want to run hide, or we hope it all a dream and we will wake up from the horror surrounding us.
Next, we see friend and family surrounding us, all trying to offer words of encouragement, but we just see lips moving with nothing registering. It is all just empty words. Soon grief overtakes the room and we are saying, this is not happing, soon followed by why did this happen. We then look for someone to be angry with or someone to blame. With no one else to blame many time it is all turned to God, God did this to me, why did God do this, I will never get past this hurt.
How many of us have had this time in our life? Most likely we all have experienced this to some degree.
These are all normal feeling, there is nothing wrong with you, you are not crazy. When tragedy strikes our system goes into overdrive in order to protect us. All these feeling at once would drive us crazy if it were not for the protective devices God built into our systems.
The question is how do I handle these feelings?
Hopefully when this time come in your life, and it will, you will have a person who is trained in trauma counseling to help you work out these feeling. If you do not, seek out a good minister who is trained in dealing with trauma, remember denomination does not matter now it all come down to guidance, someone to help you work through this time of trouble and to help you grow in your faith with God. Always remember good thing and bad thing happen to us all, God never promised to shield us from trouble, he promised to be with us no matter what we must face and to help us through it.
